WoWGrrl's own Warcraft Gold guide: Get Rich & Stay Rich right from level one!
Wealth on Warcraft

One thing that I both like and am similarly appalled at in World of Warcraft, aside from all the stupidity of humanity which is a given, are the “wow, that’s kinda mean” things that the game promotes.

I mean, if one really paid attention to the storyline of some of the quests, you might find yourself disturbed at the fact that those 20 Courser Eyes, 5 Twilight Whiskers, 5 Stonetalon Sap and the lone Fey Dragon Scale you collected for Witch Doctor Jin’Zil in Stonetalon is used to poison all of the humanoid prisoners he has locked up in tiny little cages, killing them.

And of course, there’s the poor little Gnome held captive by a Troll in the Horde town of Zib’ajin, whose sole job other than repairing Horde player equipment is to get repeatedly kicked and smacked by his Troll oppressor.

I mean, I understand this stuff happens in conflict situations and between factions that are warring against each other… especially if they’re warring without heeding “ethical guidelines to avoid war crimes”. I just find it mildly amusing that “out there in the world”, many people wish to push Utopian ideals onto everything, yet the media we’re continually exposed to at all ages points out that Utopia is just an idea to strive for, but that our natures will likely prevent us from getting there.

I haven’t decided what particular event on Warcraft is my “most enjoyed” or “most hated” war crime quest.

Have you?

While not a war crime, the ‘Poison the puppy’ quest in Taren Mills always stuck me as a little mean. (OK that’s not the real name, but that’s what everyone in my guild calls it).
For war crimes, I would have to vote for giving the pumpkins to the starving people held in the basement of the Brill Inn. The pumpkins then turns him into a screaming ghoul before he falls over dead.

haha, the Undead have probably some of the meanest quest lines, but hey, they need test subjects for the new plague, and as long as the Horde doesn’t find out it doesn’t matter. I suppose Blood Elves sucking the energy out of the Narru doesn’t look too good either…

Honestly, I can’t think of many weird quests or things… but there is one thing that REALLY stands out in my mind… what in the heck is the purpose of that Lepper Gnome in Undercity? lol

By far my favourite is ‘Intruducing Murlocs to the old ones’ or whatever they are called, in Zangarmarsh… where you take a cage of a male nad female murloc to their camp to the north (deadfen?) and LET THEM LOOSE to procreate in their swamp! LOL! And the guy you get the quest from has two murlocs that dance with the cap/cane called Murky and something… I nearly keeled over.

I’ve never really bothered with undead quests/factions, even one of my characters is undead and I just wandered over to the other continnet and didn’t really look back… I like that they’re a little mean, but some of the quests are just annoying, or don’t inspire me to complete them. (ex: poison the puppy). I like the trolls, I really do, but I see more ‘evil trolls’ that you have to kill (stranglethorn vale, ZF, ZG, Hinterlands, etc) than I do the ‘good’ ones… I wouldn’t mind some quests that help you ‘convert’ some of those evil trolls to see the ‘light’ of the Horde, and help the cause as opposed to worshipping evil gods, blah blah blah.

Yes, lots of contradictions in the world of warcraft…. /shrug.
