Warrior Hating The 50s…
My Warrior is sitting at level 57 and ... just sitting there.
Half of my quest log is BRD and BRS quests, I think I should just ditch them, as I don't have enough interest in seriously doing much in the way of PUGs, and I'd probably be better picking up some green quests from areas i skipped over.
Farming is definitely a lot more painful with this toon as well - I'm not sure if it's just because I've got a 60+ Hunter I'm comparing it to, or if it's because I'm too far into Protection spec for my own good and that's finally coming to light after all these levels.
So, maybe I should go Fury again, with some basics in Prot (like, Tactical Mastery for stance dancing) and just worry about the whole solo game. My personality and play style doesn't lean towards being much of a reliable Tank type anyway.
That having been said, I'm quite enjoying the 40s with my Mage, and he's coming along quite well, approaching 44. My Priest, however, is still sitting at 35, however - again, soloing isn't as effective or fun on this toon as it is with my Mage and Hunter.
I guess that's to be expected...

I Totally went Arms/Prot with my warrior (couple points in Fury for the extra rage) and I can still tank effectively! Although after level 60 I don't know how effective it will be unless I put more key points into Prot...
Definitely a few points in arms helps!
I have a 70 prot tank, and the trick is....never solo with him. I can solo, it just takes forever. If you don't have a 'level buddy', then go ahead and switch to fury until you feel you want to switch back to tank instances.
If your play style doesn't lend itself to tanking, then by all means go fury or mortal strike and crank up the dps. Just remember, the whole world loves a good prot warrior :)
Blackheart has it Val.. if you don't have a "buddy" then its going to suck. One of the best tanks I know has a level buddy, and a "off-tank" buddy. Off tank is incredibly powerful, and the level buddy is a mage. The off tank guy solo's all the time, since he CAN, and the other two pretty much only play those toons at the same time. Personally, when I go and roll a warrior.. He will not be prot.. Not till he is well nested in a guild that does raids.. then I'll swap and go prot, but begrudgingly
BTW val, my lock is catching you.. I hit 42 last night.. :)
Tanking is a rewarding experience, as is healing. However, if you're concerned more with solo play, then this obviously isn't for you. Spec Fury or Arms and slaughter your way through 'green' leveled mobs on rest EXP. As fury, I never run out of rage, so I just slaughter stuff & bandage/eat/drink, it's relatively easy. I also do it in areas with nodes/mobs that I can farm for herbs/minerals/skinning depending on my profession.
