Mage With The Flaming Hair

Posted by: WoWGrrl    in Adventures In Azeroth

A week ago, a guild team headed back into Blackrock Depths to help a few of us at the 52-56 range get some quick experience and hopefully a bit of new gear here and there as well. We had scheduled the run far enough in advance that a few of us were able to prepare for the run by completing quest chains that lead to BRD quests, and when we went in, I think I went in with 8 quests to complete, and by the time we left, 6 of them were done, with my guildmates also having completed at least 4-5 each.

Blackrock Depths - Circle of Flame - Ambassador Flamelash

I picked up a couple of new pieces during the run, but the nicest one was my Mage’s first epic piece (soon to be replaced in Outlands) - the Circle of Flame which came from Ambassador Flamelash, a boss who could be skipped without one even being aware of it since it’s not required to go past this guy to get to anything else.

Now, I’ve got a mere two quests in my book for Blackrock Depths, and I’m satisfied that I’ve wrung some good experience out of the dungeon. I might go in again in a PUG as a good way to spend rest bonus, but right now my Mage is sitting at level 59 with 9.7% rest bonus left, so I’m thinking it would be good to park him in a city for a week and let him rest.

Netherwing Ledge’s Two Biggest Bugs

Posted by: WoWGrrl    in Adventures In Outland

There were a couple “interesting” things I have encountered while doing this Netherwing stuff that kind of annoyed me, but I couldn’t do much about the annoyance because it seems to be that the Netherwing Ledge area is a little buggy.

First off, was doing the A Slow Death quest, which involved collecting 12 Fel Gland from animal mobs in Shadowmoon Valley, then taking those Fel Glands up to Netherwing Ledge, and in combination with a piece of mutton that the quest-giver gives when you pick up the quest (and takes it away when you turn it in, but at least tomorrow’s mutton activates on your action bar the same way as today’s, no need to re-action it), you go to a camp of Dragonmaw Peons around the crystals, put down the meat, and voila! They’re supposed to do something like this:

Part One - Dragonmaw Peons Actively Mining

Netherwing Quest: A Slow Death, Part 1

Part Two - Meat Dropped, Dragonmaw Gather & Cheer

Netherwing Quest: A Slow Death, Part 2

Part Three - Dragonmaw Peons Eating Tainted Meat

Netherwing Quest: A Slow Death, Part 3

Part Four - Dragonmaw Peons Scold, Then Die

Netherwing Quest: A Slow Death, Part 4

Bugged Dragonmaw Peons

Unfortunately, it seems like some of the Dragonmaw Peon camps either aren’t hungry (and thus they keep working after you put down the meat and you’ve wasted a Fel Gland), or they’re already bugged out from a previous person and now they’re just waiting for someone who is working on the pre-requisite quests to opening the Netherwing rep entirely, so they can be killed and reset.

As a result, when you’re doing this reputation grind, I advise you to either bring more than 12 Fel Gland with you when you leave Shadowmoon Valley and hit the Netherwing Ledge, or that you be prepared to make a couple of trips in between doing other things.

Bug #2 - Bad Loot Lag - The Not-So-Friendly Skies

For some reason, out on the floating rock-island-thingies while hunting for Netherwing Relics off of the Dragonmaw Transporters that fly by overhead, loot lag is HORRENDOUS! And it’s not even that it only lags when you’re getting a Relic, either - noooo… sometimes it lags and times out two or three times before allowing the looting to finally go through.

While this is annoying at the best of times, it’s particularly annoying when your movement is limited in terms of snagging the next mob (for which there may be competition as well). Thankfully the loot-timeout only seems to be 10 seconds or so, so it’s not like we’re sitting there for 30 seconds each time it decides to crap out.

It only seems to be on the islands that the loot lag is bad - in the mines, on the Ledge, in Shadowmoon… it’s all fine.

So, when it happens to you, know that it’s “normal”. I started to party up with a morning-daily-quest-runner after I hit Revered and the first time my loot lag hit, he was sure to let me know that he’d had the same trouble, and that the Ledge was a little bit buggy, so it ain’t just me!

Hmm, I read through the release notes and completely missed this part about the Auction House:

Patch 2.2 Introduces Auction House Payment Delays

Actually, I went through the release notes again and did a search for ‘uction’ (so I didn’t have to worry about capitalization on the word ‘auction’) and didn’t run across anything for the Auction House that mentioned time delays. So, I guess this is one of those largely noticable yet completely unwritten about changes that didn’t make the release notes.

From what I can tell, the delay is 2? 3? hours, but I haven’t been online when I got one of the notices and my timezone is a little different than the game’s as well.

The most annoying thing about this, I guess, is the fact that if you’re out of cash and want to generate some quick stuff by doing some quick farming of stuff you know will sell well and in a flash, the sales may go through, but you have to wait a couple of hours to pick up the proceeds. Pretty minor, I guess, if one thinks ahead and doesn’t let themselves run right out of cash! ;)

PS: I sold a stack of 17 Scorpid Scale there - someone actually paid a full gold each for those things they’re so much of a pain to farm in Tanaris. I think initially I bought 3 full stacks of those things for 15g in order to level my rogue’s Leatherworking, so to be able to toss back a partial stack at more than I paid for it all works for me!
