I like to upgrade my lowbie equipment cheaply and in a fun way.

I find my Frost Mage makes the whole “solo-farming lowbie instances” thing very fun because I can toss on my Ice Barrier and run through a bunch of mobs and they don’t run back to their starting position because they don’t DO that in a dungeon.

So, I get a whole schwack of guys on me, stand there for a second so they all get caught up, Frost Nova them to the ground, get out of melee range and Blizzard them to death.

Sometimes I like to Frost Nova them and then Cone of Cold them - with my deep Frost spec, that normally kills a whole bunch on its own, and those who remain can be downed with an Arcane Explosion.

In addition, I tend to use my Molten Armor instead of any of the other types while I farm these instances - sometimes it’s fun to let the last melee straggler beat on me and kill himself on my Armor.

And don’t kid yourself - lowbie equipment is big bucks on the Auction House compared to the amount of effort needed to collect it in instances such as Ragefire Chasm, Dead Mines, Wailing Caverns, Shadowfang Keep and other dungeons as well. It’s not the TRUE lowbies you’re selling to, it’s the people who have high toons with a bit of cash they’re willing to spend upon their new lowbies.
