Beware of Blackscale in Blade’s Edge

Posted by: WoWGrrl    in Adventures In Outland

I got a good shot of Blackscale the Dragon in Blade’s Edge at one point, and just wanted to share it.

Blackscale is one of the many “hazards in the air” in Outland. Some zones are free of these flying menaces, but Blade’s Edge is certainly not one of those zones, especially if you’re anywhere near anything crystalline in structure.

Check out how Blackscale is fighting with a Raven, chowing down on him. Soon the Raven will be like the other corpses on the ground, which were there when I arrived so I can only assume the Dragon got them too.

I beetled out of there before confirming the Raven’s death, however. One screenshot and I went on along my way.

Cute Snapshots From Winter Veil Festivities

Posted by: WoWGrrl    in Adventures In Azeroth

Going through my Screenshots directory on both of my computers that I’ve logged into World of Warcraft with at home for the last few months, I’m finding some great snapshots of various things that hadn’t made it into my blogs and weren’t earmarked for use in any upcoming eBooks about the various Special Events on WoW.

I thought I’d share ‘em here, as I’m sure they’ll get some smiles!

Fighting Abominable Greench, Turned Into A Snowman!

Turned into a snowman by the Abominable Greench!

I was surprised I got a snapshot of this because the Snowman metamorphosis/stun that Abominable Greench puts on a player at random during the fight… doesn’t last long. And from the looks of it I only had one chance at a snapshot before the snowman form went away, and thankfully I got a good picture of it.

You can see that I’ve been snowman’d and it’s not just some other snowman in the picture by looking at my portrait picture and that which the Abominable Greench is targetting, as well:

Cheering Santa Rides The Zeppellin With Other Santas

Gnome Santa Cheers

I actually still had the Gnome Santa buff, whatever it was called, on one of my lesser-used bank toons as of a couple of days ago, but since I had to do some mass shuffling of my bank stock, she’s now back to her normal Trolly self.

However, I did find a cute couple of pictures of one of my toons Gnome Santa’d and on the Zeppellin right at the front, doing /cheers. I took a number of screenshots to get two that worked out just right.

There is a very interesting discussion going on over on the Guild Relations board yesterday morning while the servers are down - it spawned from a post that was a little off-topic for the forum itself, but turned into a very informational thread on the topic of Protecting your Guild’s RaidID from Hijack.

What Is A RaidID?

At a Heroics and Raiding level, Instances in the game will “lock” your character to that instance for a period of time that spans from a day to a week, depending on the difficulty of the instance. The “lock” itself is saved as a RaidID that is viewable through your Raid communication tab.

What Does A RaidID Do?

Extremely simplified, it is designed to allow for the completion of difficult instances over a longer period of time (a day to a week) than normal instances, giving guilds and players a chance to take a break and go back at the tough bosses they’re hung up on, later.

Its secondary function is to prevent players or groups from farming these difficult instances over and over in one day like can be done with the lower instances. Gear upgrades therefore take longer, and keep players and the guilds they join entertained for longer, hoping to make for a more stable social environment, I guess.

How Are RaidID’s Shared? How Can They Be Hijacked?

A whole heck of a lot of ways.

Check out the forum thread linked above as there’s some interesting discussion on the topic.

Another day I’ll summarize all that great information and write up a follow-up post.
