Donating Cash Before Deleting Characters

Posted by: WoWGrrl   in Adventures In Azeroth

WoWGrrl's own Warcraft Gold guide: Get Rich & Stay Rich right from level one!
Wealth on Warcraft

So, I’ve gone through my Characters listing and Realm listing and deleted a few more toons who were sitting unused on some realm I had toyed around with…

On one PvP realm I had set up on since my nephews once played there, I had a level 10 warlock and a level 1 bank toon and already had 50g saved up from the bit of Auction House work I had done while levelling that far.

I hate money being deleted outright, so I logged into my toons before deleting them, and did a /who to see was in my zone.

There was one other player in my zone - lucky winner!

I mailed them the 5g and few silver I had on my level 10 and explained in my letter that I was about to delete my characters on that realm because my main ones were over on Zul’jin but that I didn’t want the cash to go to waste. I then mentioned I’d also log into my bank toon and send them some more money from there.

I logged into my bank toon and found I had 56g :) I sent pretty much all of it, plus a few low level cooking recipes I had on me that this level 10 mage might be able to use. Again, I attached a letter with it to explain where the cash was coming from and why I was randomly sending it their way.

I hope I hit someone new to the game and not someone to whom 60g isn’t a big donation :)

Great idea! I can still remember what a huge help it was when a guildie gave me a similar amount for my first mount, and then how nice it is to be able to pass that along.

Hey I followed your link from a comment you left on my site, nice to see someone else doing something similar to me :)

What you did here in this post is something I would totally do too. I actually have a few unused alts from way back in the early days when Deathwing would die and my friend and I would go play somewhere else. I should go do the same thing as you did and get rid of them. I do have 70s though on Deathwing,Doomhammer, and Akama for various reasons :)

As is usual Val, you’re so much nicer than me.

Among my list of some 20 alts on almost as many servers.. I can say one thing. I delete nothing, ever. I have about 20-30g total amongst them all, mostly on some hunters stored here/there. I don’t give people anything, ever. Now friends.. I helped one of my best friends in wow get his mount and it was before I had even had mine (normal flying).. Why? Well cause he’s a good guy, and I wasn’t exactly “on the cusp” of the 1k gold output needed.. so I thought he needs what.. 200g? here.. (don’t remember the amount) and we were good. The money has changed hands many times between us, more for me just wanting him to have the gear to support his talent rather than any sense of need..

Anyway, you’re awesome for doing so V.. and if I am ever the recipient of one such in game mail.. I would thank you immensely.

I did something similar.
When I stopped playing WOW (just after the release of TBC) I had 4k gold sitting in my bank.

Gave it all to one of my buddies, and he bought himself one of those shiny flighing epic mounts.

Oh yea, I just started playing again. Rerolled a toon on a new PvE server and enjoying it :)
