Well, the battlegrounds are extra special right now, while the Olympics are going on!
Check it out - you can get a Tabard with the Olympics logo on it, and if you win a round, you can get a Gold Medallion which, when used, brings out a non-combat "critter" pet that is a dragon-like creature that is normally associated with China and Chinese cultured events.
How Do I Get My Tabard?
The tabard is super-easy to get. All you have to do is go into a battleground and stay for a round, and the tabard will be mailed to you as a "competitor".
Nothing else!
How Do I Get My "Spirit of Competition" Pet?
Getting the pet is a little more difficult - it requires that you be on a winning team, winning your round of battleground.
I got lucky and got my tabard and pet immediately - went into an AV round and then left for an Eye of the Storm round in the middle of AV, and we won the EOTS so I got the medal for that.
So, go out there on your plethora of toons and pick up the goodies!

I totally went and got this when i got done reading it. I don't BG much. I like having a reward other than gear now and again. I really like the pet. I just wish there was a boss in the game look like that :)
I got the tabard early this morning. I did not even know about it until I got the mail with the tabard in game.
I haven't gotten the pet yet. I played two games this morning, and we lost both. I'll play throughout the weekend until I win. I've seen a few people with the pets in IF. They are very nice.
Well I got mine after 5 matches in WSG. And 3/5 we lost, but when I did get him we got a full clear ( 0/3 Horde ) and after that he was in my mail. And this is just an idea ( can't confirm it ) but maybe depending on the BG there is a certain task you must complete before it's mailed to you. Or maybe it's just RNG chance *shrug*. Just an idea
I received my Olympic tabard on Friday and my pet this past Sunday. However, you don't automatically get the pet if you win the BG's. I played four games on Sunday, Alliance won three of them but I did not get the pet until the third win.
I was lucky, some people were in groups that had won over seven BG's and they still did not get the dragon. Others, in the same group, got it as soon as the BG was over. I think the tabard, and the pet is running until August 25th. I've only worn the tabard once, but I've had the dragon out a few times.
Geesh I want a dragon for my lock and my hunter.. geesh. Wonder if it has to be a 70 toon you do this on? any revelations there?
Works on non-70s as well, I got it on my 41 Druid. Haven't had luck on my lowbies below that tho because the games have been painfully long (with lots of lowbies in the range hoping for a pet I guess ;) )
I'm thinking ThatOneDude has something there - the ones where I got my Medallion were rather quick rounds, and ones where I didn't, it was a little painful for our win.
Hey actually i found out i don't know if it is just a coincidence or what. But i got it on all my toons my first round of BG. I did AV with my 60+ and just captured the thing. I think u actually have to try and accomplish crap. lol and with WSG all i hide to do was pick up a flag
