71+ No Workie??
I just hopped onto my Mage to go and do some Invasion stuff (looking for more [Haunted Memento] for my alts), and took a peek at my [Riding Crop].
See what that thing says now? The tooltip has been updated recently, and now I'm left to wonder...
Will there be something at level 71 to replace my 10% mount speed buff that the trinket gave me?
Am I going to be sad that I got rid of my [Carrot on a Stick], or does that have a level restriction now too?
And man... this isn't like other items that work in the older zones but not the newer ones... this ceases to work completely! :(

There was a blue post on this but sadly I can't find it anymore... I suppose an hour with the blue tracker will solve that.
From what I gather they want to change how the movement speed increases work and they want to move away from the 'trinket' approach (as pretty much everyone is using a carrot on a stick or a riding crop most of the time).
I assume that means heading more into the direction of a buff, or a glyph of sorts.
Still they want to change how those things work and there will indeed be movement speed increasers in wrath... and indeed the ones you have now will not work beyond lvl 70.
I dont think they will and if it is i imagine it will be a quest rewatd like the netherdrake one for the races.
Seems a shame as i loved mine.
Hey, that's a valid point you bring up...why have an item that's created not work after level 70? If anything they should now make it so that the item is not soulbound (this would probably flood the AH though), or possibly have it work at level 60 instead of an item only usable for 2 levels, at least be able to send it to an alt you are leveling.

I'm guessing Riding Crops will become pretty useless, seeing as how you must be level 69 to use it, but it doesn't work past 70. I doubt many people will grab themselves a Riding Crop if it'll only work for 2 levels.
I'd read somewhere that the riding crop was going to change to be a consumable that you applied to your mount to increase its speed, instead of a trinket. Did that not make it to final release?
The carrot on a stick does have the same level requirement on it now.
@Katy: That, sadly, never made it to final release. It was actually ditched fairly early on. :(
