Achievement: For The Horde! Off Night Raids

Sartharion Bakes The Tank

Sartharion Bakes The Tank

Right now is a very relaxed time for raiders in my Holy Priest's guild.

Most of us are spending time amassing the World of Warcraft gold I'm sure we'll all need for going into Ulduar, and almost everyone is power leveling one or more low level alts, and powerleveling professions, as well.

It's actually been pretty relaxing for a month or so, because for the most part we breeze through the Heroic raiding content each week.

(Want to know about raiding videos and raiding/gearing guides I'm producing? Sign up HERE to be notified of current and new releases!)

Our only real challenge is the Obsidian Sanctum 3d fight (three drakes up) fight which we officially conquered a couple of weeks ago.

Unfortunately, last week's attempt to repeat the performance wasn't successful and we ended up doing Two Drakes at the end of our last of three official raid nights instead.

To note, Two Drakes Up is incredibly easy compared to Three Drakes Up - 3d is quite the step up in challenge, which we all think is pretty cool because we appreciate having a challenge left to master.

Planning An Invasion On Alliance Territory

Back a month or so ago, before the leaders decided we had enough DPS to give OS3D a try, we were blowing through every Heroic raid instance in one and a half raid nights, and our third raid night wallowed for a little bit.

So, one of those Thursday nights, the word trickled through the guild members that we might be trying the For The Horde! PvP achievement which involves the killing of all of the leaders of the Alliance cities, and results in a Black War Bear mount.

The Calendar was never used for this plan, and when people would ask what the raiding plan for the night was, the officers wouldn't answer, and members who had gotten wind took up the hint and didn't answer, either. Occasionally someone who had just learned might let it slip, but all in all we were really good at not making it known by all what our intent that night was.

Inviting Friends To The Raid

Since this was a raid that was only restricted by the number of people allowed in a raid itself (40), once we got all our guildies into the raid and everyone knew what was going on at raid time, we were encouraged to invite our friends along to fill out the raid numbers.

I looked at my Friends List and did a /who on the social guild I have my below-80 alts in, but hardly anyone was around.

Dernit! The one chance I have to bring friends into this cool guild I'm a part of, so they can experience the awesome raiding experience, and hardly anyone's online.

ONE friend was online, tho - a Warrior Tank friend who was very eager to join us and had a great time all throughout. I made sure I found him while we were travelling to the next place, and rode beside him or jumped around him as we ran, so we could share each other's joy at being able to share this fun experience.

The Actual Attack

I believe Darnassus was the first city our raid attacked. We were all told to gather up at the docks of Auberdine, and since we're a raid guild of people who are used to getting to the raid starting spot on their own, very few needed to be summoned.

From there, our group of 35 or so well-geared Raiders piled into city after city, mowing down anything in our paths, and only losing a comrade on occasion.

We were a force to be reckoned with, and because the guild hadn't discussed the plan beforehand and the Officers had planned it and kept it secret, we were met with very little Alliance resistance.

Plus, it really helped that some of our best raiding members used to be Alliance, and therefore knew the shortest path and best entry point to each city when it came to getting to the leaders the quickest and with the least NPC resistance.

We ran in, killed everything in our path, killed the leaders, and then left as quickly as we had arrived. No sticking around to kill Alliance who came around too late - we were on a mission to get the Achievement.

The whole thing was over incredibly quickly - under 60 minutes, I believe, from start to finish.

Then we all met outside of Orgrimmar and lined up in a big line to get our picture taken for the guild, while others looked on and cheered at our group :)

  1. Alliance must be really slow or something, because everytime I hear of a 'For the Alliance' raid, it always ends up like this:

    -Attack TB. Blow through.

    -Attack Org. Easy peasy.

-Get on zeppellin to UC. Notice big crowd of lvl 80 Horde waiting at zeppellin place to kill us.
