Interview With WoWGrrl From WoWGrrl.com
Despite the amount that I write in this blog and how social I may seem, I'm a pretty quiet, reserved woman.
I'm careful with what I get myself into, because I know how easy it is to agree up front, but then start to dread what is about to happen. I've been left with a big anxiety that contributes to the whole experience being less enjoyable than I had originally anticipated... many times.
But, when WoWRelief.com made a call-out on Twitter (find them at http://Twitter.com/WoWRelief), looking for Players and Guilds to interview and feature on their new website, somehow, it just felt right, and I responded right away that I'd love to get a chance to chat with them.
The Submission, The Response
I love the Internet.
I love how time doesn't really matter, it's just "are you here and ready to do something? So am I".
I messaged WoWRelief through Twitter probably mid-afternoon on Sunday, and they got back to me so quickly that the interview itself was conducted later that night!
No real time to get nervous, either which is even better ;)
The Interview
This was my first WoW interview, and probably my second EVER media-type interview, so I was very happy to expand my life experiences a little more. This kind of thing I could see getting into more and more over time, so the opportunity to practice is always appreciated ;)
I chose, for this time, to go into the Interview without knowing what the questions would be, and without having any suggestions of questions that they could also ask and we could also talk about.
I had no idea how they would edit the answers to go onto the website, so I figured this was the best way to start, and would give me a starting point for "next time".
Ventrilo was my choice of Interview Space. They mailed me their info, and 5 minutes before our agreed-upon meeting time, I logged into the server and hopped down into the Interviewing Channel.
For the next 20 minutes or so, we chatted about various things, did the Interview questions and chatted more about things that we like about WoW, along with the current state of the game. It was a lot of fun, and the hosts were quite friendly and fun to interact with.
Future Interviews!
The next morning once the Interview was posted on their site, I emailed them again and thanked them for the opportunity and the experience. I had a lot of fun, and it was great to meet up with them on Twitter like we did.
I've offered to be a part of their future Interview plans too, but this time think I will ask for the questions in advance, so I can plan a little and say less "uhhhmmmmmmmm" kinda things ;)
Not like that's a big stunning secret to how to come across well in Interviews, just that it's the next natural progression for me, I think :)
Thanks again for the opportunity, WoWRelief! Good luck with your projects and partnerships :)
