The Most Important Part of Healing Naxxramas
Naxxramas is likely off of the Official Raid Docket for our raiding guild now that we've run it to the point that nobody's getting upgrades for their main spec, and we're pretty much as equipped as we're going to be for entering Ulduar.
But, that means that I'll be able to help social guild friends out with my Holy Priest in the 25-mans they're just getting into, because a few of them have geared themselves out on a lot of 10-man Naxx gear and are looking forward to something "bigger".
I think it's awesome that I'm in a guild that raids Official raids only three nights a week, because that allows for a lot of fiddling around on alts, whether they're raiding alts or leveling alts.
Being Memorable In PUGs
In a Pick-up group for dungeons, and especially for 25 man raids, there are a lot of people present and even if you raid regularly, there are so many PUG raiders these days that unless you're really vocal, people don't remember you much from raid to raid.
I decided when I first joined my raiding guild that I wanted to - in a reserved way - stand out just a little bit, and be memorable to my new guildmates right off as someone with a bit of a sense of humor, and a child-like love of a certain television show a lot of us grew up on.
My solution was this: Find a macro that randomly selects a non-combat pet to pull out, and alter the standard text the macro came with so it fits me a little better.
I found my macro on WoWWiki.com on the Useful Macros page, and note that the non-combat pet summoning macro still works :)
Fun Pet Messages Remind You To Lighten Up
One thing about Naxxramas PUGs is that generally, there's a lot of stress in them.
Enough verbal members of the PUG seem to believe that the run should be smooth and flawless, because "everyone has been in Naxx by now" which of course, is blatently untrue.
Plus, even if you've been in there a few times, the randomness that PUGs themselves provide in terms of who does what and who works together with whom... well, they make it harder to smoothly go through the first trash pulls and boss fights.
My non-combat pet is a very important part of my own running through various instances on my Holy Priest. There are always whiners in the group that get muted (by me, dunno what others do), and swearers who use the military mindset of abusing people into line.
By bringing out my pet, I smile at my own silly summoning message, and I know that others see it too, from the /emote reactions I get from folks from time to time.
And then, I can keep on healing you, whether you're annoying or not.
