Brewfest 2009: Top 5 Things For Players Under 77
World of Warcraft's Brewfest is upon us again, with old familiar quests and a reliable Dark Iron Dwarf invasion every half hour or so, and a beefed up Coren Direbrew (and loots) in Blackrock Depths compared to the 2007/2008 version.
If you're not sure where to start, or what to aim for in this fun festival of drunken ram battery, allow me to give you some suggestions!
- Whip It! Whip It Good!
Of course, the first thing anyone should be doing in the Brewfest festivities is to complete the Ram Driving quest by Ram Master Ray: "Now This is Ram Racing… Almost”. It's a simple quest that lets you learn how to whip your (borrowed) Ram Mount in order to encourage it to move faster, and you can take as much time as you want to get used to it.
Once you've finished this basic Ram Riding quest, you'll be eligible to get your own special Brewfest Stein (this year it's Green, previous years it's been a [Yellow Brewfest Stein], then a [Blue Brewfest Stein]) which is a permanent memento of this year's event, and never available again.
The Stein can also be used to get free alcohol from the big kegs on the Brewfest grounds and near other places you need to be drunk (or wearing the goggles) to complete Brewfest quests. Save money, drink for free!
The Ram Riding quests are available daily, although the blue exclamation mark may not show to bring you there. Be sure to talk to Ram Master Ray every day to run barrels for him if you're looking to get as many Brewfest Tokens as possible.
- Trap The Poor Helpless Animals
The poor, poor Wolpertingers!
You can only see them when you're drunk, or when you're wearing Synthbrew Goggles, and they're little neutral critters running around the outskirts of the main Brewfest festivity area.
You get a quest and a net from Glodrak Huntsniper, and are sent out to trap five of the poor hapless creatures so you can bring them back and Glodrak can ... do whatever it is he wants to do with them.
In his gratitude, he gives you a 20% cut of the trappings - you get to save the life of one of the Wolpertingers by retaining it as a non-combat pet.
Good on you!
- Drink Until You Spew
This one will be difficult for you hardened adventurers - the more stout your constitution, the more you can handle the poisons you're dumping into yourself at this festivity.
But this is definitely something that all levels of adventurers can experience, and considering all of the life-endangering things our toons do at our hands on this game, don't you think he/she DESERVES a break and a party once in a while?
I know mine do!
So I was sure to bring them all to the Brewfest grounds to buy a stack of 20 of the highest level of alcohol they could, and drink and drink and drink until they spew spew spewed.
I even found that my 35 Warlock who got sick after 13 level 35 drinks had to stop and throw up AGAIN a minute later during the Dark Iron Dwarf invasion!I'm sure it's a day my toons will not forget for a while ;)
- Become a Drunken Master
Strangely enough, being a Drunken Master in Brewfest doesn't actually require any real "drinking". Sure, you can be drunk already from festivities beforehand, but the whole Drunken Master thing doesn't require it.
What Drunken Master DOES require, however, is the Dark Iron Dwarf invasion to be going on. I've seen most of the Drunken Master opportunities when the Dwarves were winning, too, but I'm not sure if that's an important part of the equation.
Having acquired Drunken Master, a player can near-singlehandedly defend the last Barrel of Brewfest Beer from the Dark Iron Dwarf invaders, thus repelling the attack and being able to pick up and turn in the Invasion daily Brewfest quest, getting more precious Brewfest Tokens.
For more information on how to become a Drunken Master yourself in order to be the hero and defend the beer kegs from destruction from angry and jealous dwarves, be sure to subscribe to my YouTube channel, as I'm currently editting a video on it and will be uploading it soon!
- Line Up Your Alcoholic Beverages For The Entire Year
Keep the party going All Year Long.
Join the elite club of Brewfest connoisseurs who just can't wait until next year to taste the fancy Brewfest Brews. Join the Brew of the Month Club by turning in 200 Brewfest Tokens to Blix the Brewfest vendor.
Did you know that during Brewfest we're only drinking brews that are typically ready at this time of year? And that there are special brews that aren't available right now, presumably because the stock goes bad and cannot be stored well?
These drinks which are not available right now are particularly delightful, however! They are all unique brew with unique physical effects and the empty bottles are fun to throw at your guildmates afterwards.
If you're like me, when you know you can only delight in a pleasure once a year for a short period of time, you tend to look forward to that time of year with great anticipation, and every detail of the pleasure is witnessed and absorbed and given one's complete attention when the time comes!
I'm getting my second toon into this elite club this year, after having a blast with the brews twelve times since last Brewfest on my first who did the work to join, and I encourage you to do the same!
What Part Of Brewfest Do You Like The Most?
I'd love to hear from you about your favorite parts of Brewfest 2009, and if you've blogged about your Brewfest 2009 festivities I'd love to read about 'em.
Let me know what you're making sure to do with each of your toons!
PS: I've uploaded a video I made after last year's Brewfest regarding Coren Direbrew - the loot information is now 10 levels outdated but the fight is still the same. Check it out.
