CURRENT FOR PATCH 3.3!

Here's a complete Gemming and Enchanting Guide for Resto Druids in WoTLK World of Warcraft.

This guide includes two sets of gem/enchant suggestions: One for the beginner and another for "pro" raiders

BONUS: Complete Materials Lists + helpful suggestions to help you reduce your raid gear-enhancing costs!

EVERY RESTO DRUID RAIDER NEEDS THIS GUIDE!

No Axes Here Please!

TL;DR version: If you don't believe in Gemming and Enchanting your gear, you're destined and doomed to play with others who make your raiding experience long, annoying and frustrating. Enjoy your repair bills!

If you want to find a fast, efficient, friendly raiding team, read on!

Raiders Who Don't Waste Time Gem and Enchant Their Gear

Sure, gems and Enchants aren't NEEDED in order to get into raiding.

Lots of people get wicked gear upgrades, but then continue to raid week after week without enhancing that wicked gear. And yes, they're still invited into raids.

But if THEY are so poorly Gemmed and Enchanted, I'll bet you can tell what the rest of the group looks like, too!

Some entry-level raiding guilds overlook an applicant's Gems and Enchants initially, but then discriminate when it comes time to build in-guild raid teams. The well-gemmed and enchanted tend to only want to play with others of the same ilk, potentially leaving YOU on the outside.

Use this guide to shine up your gear the best you can before a raid guild application, or to shine up the gear of your new alt raider!

Shine up your gear to Awesome Raiding Guild standards and notice how your in-game social circles begin to change as playing with well-gemmed and enchanted players becomes your new standard.

It's an easy question to answer in some ways - Yes, we're always recruiting players who are geared and experienced with the level of content we're currently working on - but the implied question isn't so easy to answer:

If your guild is recruiting, do you think they'd consider recruiting me?

Sure, if the people asking those questions didn't have feelings and memories, it would be easy to give a straight answer, but humans are definitely blessed with both emotion and memory.

Emotion is what encourages us to take offense when someone tells us we're not experienced enough as raiders.

Memory is what discourages us from ever re-applying once we've gained the necessary experience.

It's unfortunate to see people apply too early to a guild that would be great for them later on - and then take it SO personally when they are not recruited at that early time that they never re-apply.

(Shameless plug - Check out my Gearing Guides for folks new to level 80 and looking to get into entry level raiding)

The Raiding Guild Recruitment Series

Thus, the Raiding Guild Recruitment Series idea was born.

In Part One of this video series I went through some of the absolute basics of how the video series was inspired and what a viewer can expect from the rest of the series.

This video as below is Part Two of the series, entitled "Is Your Guild Recruiting?", Part Two.

In this video you are taken through the basic process I go through when someone I'm talking to asks me about whether our guild is recruiting - it's designed to help you review your own character in order to find quick and easy things you can improve before applying to a new raiding guild.

Also, you can use these same strategies to conduct reviews on people who have recently joined the raiding guilds you're eyeing up - knowing the skill and experience level of others who are being recruited can let you know whether you're aiming too low or too high with that particular raiding guild.

Subscribe! Comment! Rate!

I'd love to hear from folks about this video, so please do feel free to leave comments on YouTube (or here), and I'd love it if you could give the video a rating as well.

If you subscribe to my channel, you'll get notified right away when new videos come out on this series - I tend to be a few days or weeks behind in posting to my blog, but you'll get notified right away when the video is uploaded and processed by YouTube if you subscribe.

YouTube Video: Is Your Guild Recruiting? Part Two

Ulduar25 Raid Team Recruiting: Zul'jin, Horde Side

This having been said, the Horde-side raiding guild I'm in IS recruiting Exceptional Applicants.

If you're:

Someone who values a roster with very little turnover coming or going

Looking for a long-term raiding home in World of Warcraft

A relaxed, quiet person whose enjoyment focus is on teamwork and not gear accumulation

Very experienced with Naxxramas25

Experiened with Ulduar10/25

Well-geared in at least your main spec, fully gemmed and enchanted

Have the best shoulder enchant you can get

Have maxed out your professions

Then consider putting in an app. Our guild takes cross-server applications but requires a trial run first, so it's best that you commit to your transfer before posting your application.

The Phat Crit Chicken's Food

Buff foods, Elixirs, Flasks and Potions are a basic part of any solid raider's inventory.

No matter how good of a player you are, or how well you stack up on the meters in the random groups you get into, the simple truth is this:

Solid raid teams want to recruit solid raiders, and solid raiders use gems, enchants and consumables to improve their play.

If you don't use consumables because they are "too expensive", you might want to reconsider getting into raiding.

Prepare To Get Recruited By Quality Raid Teams

If you ask around in low-level raiding guilds, there seems to be a consensus:

"It's hard to get into a good raiding guild".

WoW Boomkin Raiding Consumables Guide

WoWGrrl Appreciates Your Support!

Sure it's hard - when you put so little effort into "shining up" your raiding character that quality raiders label you a "scrub" and nix your application before you even get a trial run.

Remember: High-quality guilds are CONSTANTLY recruiting. Even when guilds don't list what classes they would offer invites to, ALL guilds are recruiting "exceptional applicants".

If you're new to 80, however, you probably haven't been exposed to the "Raider Mindset" enough to fully understand why experienced raiders consider Consumables an integral part of that "exceptional applicant" equation.

Do you know what consumables are best for your class and spec? How about where to find the most cost-effective buffs, and when it pays off to bring out the more expensive, top-notch consumables?

If not, do you want to waste the time looking up where to find it all? Or do you just want to PLAY?

I know my own answer - I developed this consumables guide in advance so I wouldn't have to waste time once I got to 80.

And I'm happy to share this guide and all of its knowledge with you, so you, too, can play instead of spending time waiting for slow, graphic-laden websites to load up.

About This Raiding Guide on Consumables

This document was written by WoWGrrl of http://WoWGrrl.com based on her own play experiences and online research with other great raiders.

This document is designed to help Balance Druids "shine up" their game, moving closer to the habits of experienced raiders.

As a result, getting into quality Heroics and Raid groups will be easier because quality raiders will notice the efforts you've put into your own contribution to the team, and will be interested in calling you back into more good groups.

We're Going To Buff You Up!

WoW Holy Priest Raider Consumables Guide

WoWGrrl Appreciates Your Support!

Sure it's hard - when you put so little effort into "shining up" your raiding character that quality raiders label you a "scrub".

Remember: High-quality guilds are CONSTANTLY recruiting. Even when guilds don't list what classes they want, ALL guilds are recruiting "exceptional applicants".

There is a very interesting discussion going on over on the Guild Relations board yesterday morning while the servers are down - it spawned from a post that was a little off-topic for the forum itself, but turned into a very informational thread on the topic of Protecting your Guild's RaidID from Hijack.

What Is A RaidID?

At a Heroics and Raiding level, Instances in the game will "lock" your character to that instance for a period of time that spans from a day to a week, depending on the difficulty of the instance. The "lock" itself is saved as a RaidID that is viewable through your Raid communication tab.

What Does A RaidID Do?

Extremely simplified, it is designed to allow for the completion of difficult instances over a longer period of time (a day to a week) than normal instances, giving guilds and players a chance to take a break and go back at the tough bosses they're hung up on, later.

Its secondary function is to prevent players or groups from farming these difficult instances over and over in one day like can be done with the lower instances. Gear upgrades therefore take longer, and keep players and the guilds they join entertained for longer, hoping to make for a more stable social environment, I guess.

How Are RaidID's Shared? How Can They Be Hijacked?

A whole heck of a lot of ways.

Check out the forum thread linked above as there's some interesting discussion on the topic.

Another day I'll summarize all that great information and write up a follow-up post.

One of the many repeat topics of conversation regarding the World of Warcraft grouping dynamic is the question of whether there's "enough" tanks and healers to support the number of DPS characters looking to complete the same content.

That is, are there enough players with proper skills, proper equipment and proper talent specializations (in that order) to handle the duties of Tank and Healer adequately in a group with three DPS players.

On Zul'jin, there are regularly times where it's obvious some groups are having problems finding Healers and Tanks (could it be that some DPS folk have earned bad reputations?) and I've seen 6 DPS and 0 Tanks and Healers listed for Zul'Farrak in LFG as well as been in parties that disbanded after trying fruitlessly for a tank or healer, so I know our realm isn't immune to this problem.

The topic itself deserves a family of entries dedicated to it (I wrote about a wee part of it back here, in the section labelled 'What no LFG tool will ever fix'), and there are number of people who have already written mounds on the topic - one day I'll link some of the ones I have found and my thoughts about the whole thing, but that's not today.

Today, all I wish to do is show a wee bit of screenshot that I took in the past few days - I felt by looking at the LFG line output that I was living in an Alternate Universe where there were more Tanks and Healers than DPS toons about, because it seemed to me that there was actual competition for DPS classes to join dungeon parties.

Weird.
