How To Turn Yourself Into A Snowman

This entry is a bit late for anyone who wishes to get the Winter Veil Disguise Kit immediately - the festive season is overwith on World of Warcraft and therefore the quests required to be completed aren’t available anymore, and therefore neither are the rewards.

Ah well. There’s always next year, and for those of you who hadn’t seen the “snowman kit” because you’re new to the game, I guarantee you’ll see some snowmen hanging around the cities in July, just because they can.

What’s The Snowman Look Like?

Winter Veil Disguise Kit - AKA Snowman Kit

A standard snowman of Frosty the Snowman fare - sticks for arms, carrot for a nose, and big black Top Hat. He’s got a special /dance, but once you activate the kit (which requires a [Snowball] to activate) you cannot move around, as you as a snowman have no legs.

Where Do I Get My Winter Veil Disguise Kit / Snowman Kit?

During the Winter’s Veil festive time of year (around Christmas outside of Azeroth), there are a number of different quests that can be done by players of all levels. In order to get the kit, you need to take down [item]The Abominable Greench[/item] in Alterac Mountains which is a quest in the chain that starts with Stolen Winter Veil Treats. Once you finish all three quests in the chain, you’ll find that for a number of days afterwards, you’ll receive gifts from Great-father Winter or from the Smokeywood Pastures vendors thanking you for recovering the goods.

One of those gift days you’ll receive a game mail just like the one I’ve pictured below, and it carries your Winter Veil Disguise Kit, ready to be used! Now you just have to make sure you have a good supply of Snowballs for your Snowmen in July!

Winter Veil Disguise Kit - Turns you into a snowman!

As part of the Winter Veil activities, players are given many gifts by Great-father Winter. Many of these gifts arrive by mail (which means, I guess, that trial account players miss out until they register).

One such gift is that of the Winter Veil Disguise Kit which I believe came to me as a result of having taken down The Abominable Greench in Alterac Mountains (you can see where to find him and what quests are associated with him through this link here).

I took the Greench down on the 15th, the first day of the festival, and so this was from my second day of gifts from Great-father Winter after that had been completed.

I think I’ll save mine for July, especially since in the process of doing the quests for Great-father Winter, I also got a copy of the [Snowmaster 9000] and can make a snowball in the middle of summer!

Reindeer Flying Mount Antics - Barrel Roll

Winter Veil is here, and the various Christmas quests (which I’m too busy to spend oodles of time documenting :( ) abound, and so do the Reindeer mounts.

How To Get A Reindeer Mount

Complete quests during the Winter Veil event - some reward [Preserved Holly] or [Fresh Holly] which can be used on your existing mount to change its appearance temporarily.

There is no permanent Reindeer mount.

[Preserved Holly] can be stockpiled and sold in the Auction House - buy up a bunch and save them for July, then list some in the AH and buff your own mount and sit in the city during a busy day - a little bit of advertising should do the trick!

Watching Others Fly Their Reindeer In Outland

I know there’s ways you can change your WoW configuration files slightly that will allow you to go completely belly-up on your flying mount, enabling you to (fly upside down?) do a complete “barrel roll”, but I haven’t tried it myself.

I got a chance to see someone in action on their Reindeer in Shattrath City, however, and got some good screenshots of it. Here’s one of the best ones:
